May Update: Moved Job, Planning for Wedding Season
Inflows
May was a good month inflows wise! We moved to a new company recently so I got paid my sign-on bonus which is the largest sign-on bonus I've had (tax is crushing me so net it's not as much).
Market has also recovered from previous months which means my portfolio is mostly looking green. I have a bit of dry powder laying around to see if I find a good oppurtunity due to the conflict in Iran adding a lot of volatility.
Outflows
Outflows are going to start to look grim.
I am at the age where a lot of my social circle is getting married (including myself)! In preparation for this I have booked a few flights and stays for a thousand and a bit pounds. Another large expense is my soon to be engagement where I had to buy an initial ring in the thousands. I come from a culture where the wedding is a very large celebration so the cost will be ludicrous. Not only that but travelling, accomodation, and weddings gifts will start to be a significant expense for the next 1-3 years.
I am mostly spending on my Amex so it's a bit trickier to see how much I am spending per category. Probably one of the strong downsides of using my credit card instead of my Revolut/Monzon.
I'll have to breakdown my expenses but didn't seem like eating out is as big as an expense as it was earlier in the year. Probably a combination of having lunch in the office for free and cooking a bit more at home. Lets hope this keeps up!
What I'm Reading
This month I'm reading Streetwise: Getting To and Through Goldman Sachs.

Lloyd Blankfein’s Streetwise looks like a sharp mix of memoir, Wall Street history, and practical lessons on leadership, culture, and risk.
Having worked in the industry, and having some ties to Goldman Sachs, myself it's interesting to read from the top level perspective. Some quotes particular really resonated to me for some reason. A more thorough update later!
